32Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.

Proverbs 4
(Proverbs 4:1) Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
(Proverbs 4:2) For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
(Proverbs 4:3) For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
(Proverbs 4:4) He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
(Proverbs 4:5) Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
(Proverbs 4:6) Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
(Proverbs 4:7) Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
(Proverbs 4:8) Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.

Methods used at altar calls are causing great harm in the name of Christianity. The tactics used are mere psychology, and they are convincing sinners that they are saved when, in fact, they are still on their way to hell. This session of History of the Modern Gospel shows that these tactics are actually relatively new in church history, and the problem is a basic mis-understanding of what it means to be saved.
